Meadowside Nature Center offers a wide variety of nature oriented
programs and exhibits for people of all ages. Located amidst
the 2,700 acres of Rock Creek Regional Park, the center was
dedicated in 1972. The naturalist staff strives to increase
awareness and appreciation of the natural world. Among the
many features Meadowside has to offer are exhibits such as
Legacy of the Land and Legacy of the People,
Curiosity Corner (a room designed to inspire wonder
in nature via a "hands-on" experience) and even
a wildlife observation area. Outside surrounding the main
building are theme gardens, a raptor aviary and fourteen nature
trails. The nature trails cover 7-9 miles and the eastern
shores of Lake Frank can often be observed as well as ponds,
streams, meadows and woods.
Programs
for adults and children are widely varied and change from
month to month, season to season. Among recent activities
are field trips, hikes to glimpse beavers, storytelling, crafts
and much, much more. (See
Nutshell News for a complete schedule).
The Montgomery County Public School system sometimes sponsors
field trips as a part of the social studies curriculum on
occasion. More

Schools in regards to Meadowside Nature Park.
Pre-registration for all programs is recommended.
