As residents of Derwood since 1995, my husband and I realized there was not an online resource targeted to everyday life in our community. Both homeowners and renters, we observed, share many of the same interests and needs. Our research has proven to us that Derwood is a location with a wealth of diversity and opportunity, and we are proud to live here.

Together, we chose a team of graphic designers, programmers, marketing professionals, and technical writers to achieve our vision. This team is provided through Creative Presence Design Works, a local Derwood company. The project officially began construction in October of 1999. Although all primary sections were online by early 2000, the site continues to evolve.

As the architects of this community web site since 2000 we strive to provide online resources that are relevant and valuable to our friends and neighbors. We have made a point to include listings and phone numbers for resources that do not yet have an internet presence at the time they were researched. The idea is that Derwood.Net should evolve into a comprehensive, rich resource that is valuable to everyone.

Our "Derwood-centric" community website treats Derwood as if it is the center of the universe. In many cases you will find distances have been measured between Derwood and outside locations such as parks. Our research has showed us that there are by far more options available than we ever imagined. Although many of us venture outside Derwood for many services, one thing this site should prove is that most services and activities are available in some form right here in the community.

It is our goal to encourage involvement and a healthy exchange of information within the community via the online environment. It is our hope that this will in no way replace traditional social interaction, but instead will enhance our daily lives. To assist this effort we have developed systems to accomodate community input such as interaction with our community calendar and email addresses whenever we could find them for community contacts. Feedback is consistently encouraged throughout the site.

It is our earnest hope that you will not only utilize Derwood.Net but will always find it to be a valuable local resource.
